Description

Monitoring off gas of an EAF allows to predict the decarburization process and hence the melt performance of the tap during the melting process. Using the off-gas data events such as scrap cave-ins, overdrafting and varying scrap moisture can be visualized in real time and hence predictions can be made about necessary changes in O2 lancing, electrode power as well as carbon injection. The paper describes the off-gas measurement method and gives sample data of EAF processes where the off-gas measurement is installed.
